In these COVID19 times, online video calls through the Zoom platform have just taken off - 'Zoom' was even trending today on Twitter. But what if you don't want to use Zoom? Or upgrade to any of the paid packages to talk to more than 2
people for longer than 40 mins? Did you know that Google has its own free online video call tool that comes with every Gmail account as standard?
In this video, I'll show you the difference between Google Meet and Google Hangouts and how to set up, create and join a call.
First things first, (in my opinion) Google Hangouts for free video calls is best with smaller groups for around 10 people max and no one has to sign up to a paid Zoom account.
On the free Zoom plan, you can only talk for 40 mins with a group (more than 2 people) and then your call ends, prompting you to upgrade to a paid plan.
But Google Hangouts / Meet is free and is standard with all Gmail accounts, but there is a slight difference between Google Hangouts (personal gmail) and Google Meet (Google Suite / 'work gmail').
See my video for my quick 'how to' video on how to set up and create Google Hangouts and Google Meet calls.
Happy free video calls :)
